Robertson, Institute of Personality and Social Research, was awarded $1,462,892 by the National Institute of General Medical Sciences for her lab's research on “Spatial Representations and Attention.” Elizabeth Peele joined IPSR as new Administrative Assistant in October 2006. She was previously with the Haas School of Business and replaces Celeste Newbrough who recently retired. Celeste Newbrough retires. Prior to joining IPSR, Celeste served as a technical writer at Lawrence Berkeley Lab and several computer corporations, did editorial work for the Development Office and the Regional Oral History Office. She also worked as a Publications Coordinator for the Engineering Research Center. Gala Ribbon Cutting for IPSR's Group and Individual Testing Room! The ribbon was cut on August 30, 2006 for IPSR’s Group and Individual Testing (GR.I.T.) Room. Bob Levenson cited all those who worked to bring about this renovated research facility. Jenn Goetz of the Facilities Committee discussed guidelines for usage. Demonstrations of research software were given by Liz Page-Gould, Sang Hee Park, and Andy Martinez. Graduate Computer Room Moved and Expanded In 2006, IPSR graduate researchers designed an expanded graduate computer space. Special thanks to Lindsay Shaw Taylor, Laura Naumann, Wayne Chan, and Saiwing Yeung for facilitating this project. IPSR Welcomes New Faculty Member Robb Willer of the Sociology Department at UC Berkeley is the newest addition to IPSR faculty. We all welcome Professor Willer and look forward to his participation in the activities of the Institute. Former IPSR Researchers Go Places Two valued postdoctoral IPSR researchers joined the faculty of other academic institutions in the Fall of 2006. Kristin Nelson, senior research associate at the Berkeley Psychophysiology Laboratory (BPL), has joined the Department of Psychology at McDaniel College in Westminster, Maryland, as an Assistant Professor. Lani Shiota, postdoctoral researcher at the BPL, has joined the Department of Psychology at Arizona State University in Tempe as an Assistant Professor.
